Bread for the City
One of DC's most beloved nonprofits was poised for its next chapter of growth.
And Obama handed out turkeys.
Bread for the City is the DC-area's largest food pantry - and much more. The company offers comprehensive poverty relief solutions for thousands of clients in two neighborhood headquarters. The Development Department sought to lift contributed revenue to new highs across its diversified funding portfolio.
I worked across their Development and Finance offices to explore public-private funding strategies for an exciting building expansion well before the capital campaign feasibility survey even began. With my extensive contacts in the DC legal community, I advised on relationship building for their complex network among DC's many law firms, a key area of both program partnership and corporate sponsorship. And as we rolled out donor communications, I coached their team towards a unified voice and compelling marketing strategy.
And yes, President Obama really did visit our food pantry to hand out Thanksgiving turkeys. No, I didn't get to meet him. But along with the whole Development team, we shared the exciting news with our community of supporters. The President's visit was a incredible honor and an opportunity for the company to shine.
